Babies don't sleep when I come around. Just ask any of the mom's who have had me do newborn shoots! I always joke that there is a curse on me. I'm doing my best to learn all the tricks of the trade to get them sleeping soundly, because when they do finally doze off it is so much fun posing them. I love how you can fold them up any which way.
And p.s.- did anyone watch Miss America last night? Miss Michigan won! Go Michigan!!!

I'm reading Anne Geddes autobiography "Labor of Love" and just yesterday I read that all her years of experience have taught her that the best way to get a baby to sleep is to be very nonchalant as if you don't care one way or the other and they will sleep (most of the time :) She had more trouble when she and her crew would try to will the baby to sleep by mentally thinking about it. Thought I would pass that along :) I am a beginning photographer and a BIG fan of your work! I just got a blog going until I can get an official website up. I enjoy the simplicity of your style and have made many friends sit down and view your website. My next goal is to learn how to use lightroom or photoshop. I am brand spanking new to digital so everything is a bit overwhelming! Whoa! sorry this comment is so long, I just wanted to say hello and let you know that is we lived close by I would make sure we somehow became BFF's (in a non-stalkerish way of course:)

These are beautiful shots of this peaceful baby. I like the last one cause it brings into perspective just how tiny that little person is!

Here's my super dooper trick for newborns...a hair dryer, turn it on and they instantly go to sleep...they love the "white" noise. And always keep them warm, bundle them with a blanket until the second you are ready to take the shot. Excellent work!

Hey girl! Long time no talk ;) My super duper trick... a $12 heater fan from wal-mart. It blows warm air on them and gives a humming noise. Knocks 'em out like a rock. Oh, and getting them at 2 weeks or younger helps too. Gorgeous shots!!
