What I was doing in Florida
A couple of weeks ago I flew to Florida to photograph Scarlett Lillian, an amazing wedding photographer based out of Jacksonville. The photos were for her new website and blog. Let me just tell you that Scarlett is the most girly girl I know and so much fun to hang with. Actually we had never met in person until I went down there but we've been keeping in touch for quite a while now via this crazy thing called the internet. =) And I am especially excited because she did a photo shoot of me as well and I just saw the pictures for the first time today!
I'd been to Florida before, but never in August. Scarlett can testify that the heat and humidity was about giving me a panic attack. It was like walking through a wet blanket which I am not used to! Despite my issues with the temperature, I loved romping around a new city and spending time with another photographer. I get to use all my technical and photoshop lingo without having to explain what I am talking about. The ocean was also gorgeous and the water was as warm as a bath. I realized that I wouldn't be able to handle living there in the summer though as much as I dream of living there in the winter. So I can quit begging my husband to move to Florida now.
I've got a ton of stuff to share-
First off, a few of the pictures I took of Scarlett.
I loved shooting her. She was such an incredible model. You have to check out this video she put together of the shoot to see what I mean. She such a glam girl. The video also shows the inside world of laying on the sidewalk as a photographer. See me in action!
And here is a fun slideshow of a ton more of the pictures:
Next up- A sneek preview of a few of the pictures that Scarlett took of me!!!
I absolutely love these headshots she did of me against the blue. No I'm not naked I promise. My strapless is just sitting a little low! It's funny how as you get older you have to let the little things go about your appearance that bother you. For instance, my lazy eye. lol! Notice how on the right side my eyelid hangs lower. Itsn't it pathetic that we even notice things like that about ourselves? Another thing that used to bother me that I now actually LOVE are my pointy ears. Or elfkin ears, if you will. I wanted to do these shots to show them off. I inherited my pointy ears from my Dad. As you can imagine it wasn't much fun as a 10 year old girl being called "captain Spok." When you are a teenager it's so much about blending in and being like everyone else. Fitting in is the name of the game. Now that I am a woman I would much rather stand out. Everything in my life from my style of dress to the style of my photography is constantly evolving as I grow out of the mindset of being like others and into the mindset of being unique. I know I've only begun on this journey, but I am finding it so rewarding.
So don't forget to click through to Scarlett's blog to see the slideshow of all the pictures she took of me and the entry she wrote about our time together in Florida. I'll leave you with a polaroid picture.

The images you took are more than amazing. They truly look right out of a magazine. You did a remarkable job, what a lucky girl to have you capture her and a beauty to capture too.
Love the headshot she got of you, very cool, looks like an album cover.
